Cruise Disembarkation Day 12: Vanvouver, BC, Canada

We woke up in Vancouver, and I realized that life is going to suck again. Well, I guess it really doesn't have to be that bad. I'll be studying a completely new field that will have me doing completely new things, which really is a blessing compared to last Fall. Les grandes vacances will come another day!

This really was my last day of relaxation this summer. Tomorrow will be hectic disembarking, flying back to Texas, and unpacking. After just a day, I have to attend Camp LBJ, a prepatory summer program for grad school in Global Policy Studies. Goodbye 24 hour feasts!

Alaska Day 10: Ketchikan

We finally had an unrushed sit-down breakfast in the Rotterdam today. I had the following:

Sunshine parfait

Scottish eggs benedict
Mom had an omelette.

I spent the rest of the morning reading at the piano bar, then before we knew it, lunch was being served. My dishes were:
Hubbarb Glacier Fritter-spiced cod w/ shrimp and spicy peppercorn sauce

Yankee short ribs

Mom's dishes were:
fruit salad

Chile crusted Alaskan sole with tropical fruit salsa

We both bypassed dessert this time and scrambled off the ship because we docked Ketchikan while lunching. We took a stroll around town, mainly the old red light district Creek Street. There we took a funicular up to Cape Fox Lodge then took the trail back down again. We did buy most of our fish goods before reboarding the ship.

The pug's name is Dolly (name of the famous prostitute of Creek Street)

Once we got back on the ship, it was feeding time again. I had the carpaccio of beef tenderloin drizzled with olive oil and topped with Reggiano-Parmigiano cheese and whole grain mustard sauce, cream of green asparagus, and the herb breaded scallops with hot Thai chili mayo and San Francisco fried rice, and fruit plate. Everything was delish.

Mom had the oak-smoked salmon with arugula and spinach with citrus dressing, Thai prawns soup with lemongrass, prime rib au jus, and a berry cobbler.

We took in our last show in the Frans Hals theatre then found ourselves eating again at the midnight dessert extravaganza. No, no we didn't pig out. The quality of the desserts got worse for this choco-fest, so we only had the chocolate covered strawberries. This entire day was like a drawn out Louis XIV feast. Check out the link below. You'll know that I kid you not.
