Da Qing Hua 大清花 Manchurian Dinner in Shenyang

大清花
What I've noticed about Manchurian food in China is that the big meat dishes tend to be tasty, and the other dishes are anyone's guess. In this case, the pork ribs were excellent, the green dumplings were delicious but with a questionable meat filling, the complimentary tofu mush with corn kernels and salted egg yolk were disgusting as it got cold, the cabbage was coated in oil, and the noodles with meat sauce were the blandest of its kind. The fried eggs on the noodles were like the plasticky kind found in a MacDonald's breakfast sandwich!

Manchurian Cuisine near the Qing Dynasty Imperial Palace in Shenyang

While approaching the grounds of the Qing Dynasty (Manchurian-ruled last dynasty in China)Imperial Palace in Shenyang, a friend and I decided that restaurants or vendors in the museum grounds would probably be tourist traps. We found a Manchurian restaurant nearby for a quick lunch. This place was incredibly cheap, and the food was not bad.

We ordered a beef and daikon radish pot 2 pancakes filled with ground beef, and one bowl of rice. The food in Northeastern China is generally oily and salty. This was no exception, but considering the cooking conditions here, this was relatively tasty.
